For some strange reason, I don’t get convicted about Black History month until after February. Well, it’s March 2nd 2020 and I just finished the Netflix series: Who killed Malcolm X. As an intrigued on looker of That movement and being infatuated by That story, This particular documentary opens up much more insight to my already stunned soul. As a man in Black skin, the spirit of racism or injustice has always been a part of my consciousness, probably from generations passed down through ancestors as well as a few personal experiences. I have never truly felt the fullness of skin equality. That “more than just a feeling but an experience” primarily a person in Black skin can only either understand or explain, is more of a “GMO DNA” thing than anything I can express. Sure, many blatant injustices have been addressed and I’m grateful for the improvements considering but if I had to describe it, it’s like a foul smell of rotted death energy that’s left behind after even being cleaned with bleach. It’s still there! Yes, there’s a month to celebrate achievements, slavery as described has ceased, no one is picking cotton, living on a plantation or have a personal master giving orders to have anyone beaten, humiliated or sold. However, one doesn’t have to look far to see how easily people of color are somewhat still systematically challenged as a result of skin color and or status. Although there is a strong belief in the power of a Supreme Being or The Original Creator of all things, the idea that other humans can, have and will strip another man of his integrity, universal rights and freedom, bully and enslave him, and force him to submit to rules or a system less favorable to that individual is extreme room to be concerned. True freedom does come from within and nothing can enslave a fearless mind but systematically, one can be tormented… Maybe life isn’t fair. Maybe, some people do deserve less. Maybe slavery and systematic control is a good thing but it just doesn’t seem right. The Dream still lives within to experience a world where peace, fairness, respect and consideration of others is common. *Considering the idea that Everything started from nothing or darkness, Let’s wish the world,- Happy Dark History.
